The London department store, Liberty, is celebrating its 150th anniversary this year, and until 25 July it’s got a free mini exhibition featuring some of the many designs from its fabric archive. Above are some of the original hand drawn/painted artworks on display; I particularly love the signs of wear around the edges of the paper.

Writing

Using a semicolon is ‘like saying to a reader, who is already holding one bag of groceries, “Here, I know it’s a lot, but can you take another?”’. Sadly, the semicolon is in decline, but as this article suggests, I will resist their disappearance.
